Faulty, Warranty & Repairs

If there is a suspected fault with an item that you have purchased, please visit your local Baby Bunting store with your proof of purchase for assessment. If you're unable to visit a store, you can choose our online return option.

Please note, some faults may require further inspection, and we may need to send the item to the brand or manufacturer for a detailed assessment.

The items you purchase from Baby Bunting come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act (NZ). The remedy available to you depends on the nature of the problem (i.e. whether the problem or fault is of “substantial character”). If the problem or fault is of substantial character, you are entitled to choose between a replacement or refund or keep the faulty product but get compensation for the difference in value compared with one in good condition. You may also be entitled to compensation for any additional loss or damage from the failure to meet the consumer guarantees.

A problem or fault is of substantial character when:

  • a reasonable person would not have bought the item if they had known about the fault, taking into account the nature of the fault, price paid and other information that might indicate expected durability of the item;
  • the item is significantly different to its description, sample, or demonstration model;
  • the item is unfit for its normal purpose and can't easily be put right within a reasonable time, for example, washable wallpaper that bubbles after being wiped clean;
  • it doesn’t achieve a particular result that you told us you wanted, and can’t be easily fixed within a reasonable period of time; or
  • it is unsafe, for example, a bicycle with faulty brakes.

If there is no major failure, you are entitled to have the items repaired or replaced within a reasonable time where:

  • The goods fail to meet any guarantees under the New Zealand Consumer Law; or
  • If it is not repaired in a reasonable time, you can choose a refund or replacement.

 If the item is found not to be faulty or has been damaged due to inappropriate use:

  • Baby Bunting has the right to refuse to provide a refund, repair or exchange.

Troubleshooting Support

Most issues with electronic products, such as baby monitors or breast pumps, can be quickly resolved through the manufacturer’s troubleshooting support. They can often diagnose problems without needing the product returned. If you’re not happy with the troubleshooting experience, please contact us for help.

If you prefer, Baby Bunting can arrange a manufacturer assessment through any of our stores or via the online return option. This process might take longer as it may require us to send the item back to the manufacturer.
