You can locate you closest Baby Bunting store and their opening hours in our store finder.

1. Log in or create an account and select Create a new Gift Registry in your Gift Registry account list. Add the name, date and description of your event.
2. Start browsing our wide range online or in-store, adding products you love and need to your list.
3. When you're ready to share your list, send a link to your family and friends by selecting Share my registry in your gift registry account. Don't forget to include your registry ID number in your event invitation.
4. Enjoy your celebrations!
After creating your event, you can add items online or at your local store. We recommend adding a mix of prices, quantities and products you love and need. Note, an online only item won't be available to view (or purchase) in a store.
Online: Browse our range and gift registry guides online. Select a product you like and choose Add to gift registry. Our Live Chat is available Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm AEST if you need any help.
Store: Visit your local store, browse the shelves and when you see an item you like, type the product name or code into the Baby Bunting website search bar on your personal device, select it then tap Add to gift registry. (If you can't see this option, make sure you're logged into your account). If you need any guidance during your visit, our friendly team members are there for you.
Alternatively, you can write in a notebook or take photos of all the products you find and like and when you're comfy on the couch, add them to your gift registry list.
Pricing and products are not locked or reserved when added to a gift registry.
Any product you add may be affected by promotions and product supply, including sale and clearance. The price and availability will always be current on the day you view a product, and this simply may be different to the day you added it.
If an item is no longer available (we let you know on your gift registry list), we recommend choosing an alternative gift to add for guests to purchase.
Currently, no. Sometimes we have package deals available for a specific and short promotional period which is why a bundle cannot be added to your list.
Tip: If a bundle or package is available at the same time you have shared your event, you can add each item individually that forms the bundle to your registry list and if a guest purchases all items (and the promotion is current) the bundle discount will automatically apply at checkout.
With a registry ID, you can find a registry list through our online search function or at your local Baby Bunting store with an option to print* the list.
If the event is private, guests can only access the gift registry list if a link is shared with them directly or, with a registry ID number in a store.
*Prices and availability of products will be current at the time of printing which can differ from the day you visit a store.
Currently, guests cannot automatically send a gift directly to the recipient. If they would like to send a gift direct or if they live overseas, we suggest contacting the recipient for their details.
If a registrant chooses to add any personal details in their event description, we recommend selecting a private event in the privacy settings.
You can keep track of which gifts have been purchased so far with the Thank you list in your Gift Registry Account. This is also handy to look at after your event.
Guests will also see which products and quantities have already been purchased off your list and which gifts are left to buy.
In addition to your statutory rights under the New Zealand Consumer Law, with a gift receipt or proof of gift purchase on your Thank you list; you can return an item to any of our stores in New Zealand or submit a Return Request Form for an exchange or store credit only, provided the item meets our Change of Mind Returns Policy.
For faulty items, refer to Baby Bunting’s Returns Policy.
You can use your Gift Card for full or partial payment during checkout. Just follow these simple steps:

Each booking for an individual car seat is 20 minutes.
In this time, your car seat will be installed following the manufacturer’s instructions and best practice. Please refer to our Installation Guidelines for more information on Baby Bunting’s recommendations for ensuring your child travels as safely as possible in your vehicle.
We prefer to have your child present for the installation as we will adjust the car seat to fit them specifically.
Our child restraint technician will advise you on the correct use of your car seat, how to adjust it as your child grows and will answer any questions you have.
When the installation is complete, you will be emailed a report recording the details of the installation.
If you have two or more car seats, it is possible to book extended appointments for multiple installations.
To book your installation, click here.
No, our fee does not change in relation to car seat or vehicle type.
The fee only increases if you have more than one car seat to install. Please see our booking page above for these costs and the increased booking times.
Each car seat takes 20 minutes to install. Our team will fit, advise and also educate you on the correct use of the restraint.
If you require more than one seat to be installed, please select a two seat (40 minutes) or three seat appointment (60 minutes) when making your booking.
Please be mindful to arrive on time or early for your appointment and have your vehicle in the designated installation area to maintain fairness and provide the same level of service to all customers.
Children should stay in their rear-facing car seat, if possible, up to the limits of their car seat.
A child’s head is largely unsupported and vulnerable to sustaining injuries in a forward-facing car seat. A rear-facing car seat will absorb most of the crash forces and spread these across a wide area of the baby’s body. The baby’s head, neck and spine are fully supported.
The benefit of rear-facing is that it reduces the risk of severe head, neck and spinal injuries.
Concerns that a child’s feet and legs will suffer injuries if they are touching the vehicle seat are sometimes used as a reason to turn a child forward-facing too soon. There is no evidence to support this, but there is evidence showing increased risk of head, neck and spine injuries in a forward-facing seat.
A lot of car seats available in NZ have the ability to be installed using either the vehicle seat belt or isofix. Most of these car seats are approved to be installed using only one of these methods at a time – either the vehicle’s seatbelt or isofix. It is very rare to find a car seat that allows both methods of installation at once. Only if your car seat’s instruction manual states that both can be used at once is it approved to do so.
To be able to install using isofix your vehicle must have the lower anchors located between the vehicle’s rear seat base and rear seat back.
A car seat installed with a vehicle seat belt is just as safe as one installed with isofix, as long as the installation is secure and the car seat is installed in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Not all car seats have a top tether.
If your car seat has a top tether, it must not be removed. Whether you must use the top tether or not will depend on the manufacturer’s instructions for each individual car seat.
If it is required, the top tether is attached to a car seat anchor point in your vehicle and prevents excess movement of the car seat in a crash.
We advise to look at your car seat instruction manual for information about top tether use specific to your car seat or discuss with one of our child restraint technicians.
The safest place for any car seat in any vehicle is on the back seat.
The rear middle seat is a preferable position being furthest away from any type of impact. This is the case as long as you can achieve a safe and secure fit for the car seat and potentially the car seats next to it.
Watch video on why the rear seat is safest.
This is a common question. Growing families mean additional car seats as well as a transition from one type to the next.
Whether you can fit 3 across in your vehicle will depend on the vehicle itself and the car seats you use, as well as which direction your car seats are installed. You’ll also need to consider whether you have anchor points in the positions required for some of your car seats and a number of other factors.
We suggest you book a time for a trial fitting with our vehicle safety team.
All car seats must be installed securely. It is simple to check this. Hold the car seat at the point that it’s connected to your vehicle and pull sideways. Does it move more than 2.5cm? If so, it is not installed securely enough and will need to be reinstalled.
If you are unsure, book a car seat check with our vehicle safety team. There is no charge for us to check your car seat installation. If it requires adjustment or reinstallation our regular installation charge will apply.
For car seats purchased from Baby Bunting: free (we cover the entire cost).
For all other car seats: $25 (we cover part of the cost).
Generally, there is a small fee associated with recycling car seats – this price varies around New Zealand, and is usually around $35. Here at Baby Bunting, we are working towards improving the sustainability of our operations, so we are contributing towards the cost of recycling car seats. This contribution is why it will only cost you $25 per seat for any seat not purchased with us.
There is a limit of 4 seats per customer. If you have bulk volumes to be recycled, please contact SeatSmart directly to discuss options.
Currently, car seat materials that are recycled through this program include plastics (recycled in New Zealand), metal (taken to local metal recyclers) and the straps (used in the production of recycled bags).
SeatSmart utilises a combination of dismantling services, including resources from the 3R Group, social enterprises, and community work programmes. Their goal is to maximise social benefit wherever possible throughout the process.
We can accept any brand of baby capsule, convertible seat, and booster seat.
We cannot accept mouldy seats, as they can contaminate other seats and may pose a health risk to people who come in contact with these seats throughout the recycling process. We also cannot accept polystyrene seats, snap and go’s, or car seat accessories.
Two of the most important aspects of installing a capsule properly are ensuring it is secure in your vehicle and is at the correct angle for a sleeping baby. There should be less than 2.5cm of sideways movement when it is installed, and it should be at a 45 degree angle.
A capsule is carried in and out of a vehicle, so to install a capsule without a base, it is necessary to install it every time you travel. There will be a belt path that requires you to thread the vehicle belt through the capsule. You will need to complete this, ensure the belt is tight enough to secure the capsule with less than 2.5cm of movement, and make sure the capsule is at a 45 degree recline every time.
Using a base removes the need to install the capsule each time. Instead, the base is installed in the vehicle once. It is installed ensuring it has less than 2.5cm of movement and it enables the capsule to sit at a 45 degree recline. The base then stays in the vehicle, and the capsule simply clips in and out of the base each journey you take.
Not only is this more convenient, it also greatly increases the likelihood of your baby travelling in a safely installed capsule every time you travel.
All the capsules and bases we have available for hire can be installed using either a seatbelt or isofix. We will install your base using one of these methods. Which is used will be decided by which method allows our child restraint technician to achieve the most secure and safest fit for your capsule and base in your vehicle. This will depend on several factors.
To be able to install the capsule base using isofix, your vehicle must have the lower anchors located between the vehicle’s rear seat base and rear seat back.
Only one of these methods can be used at one time. A capsule base is installed using either the vehicle seat belt or isofix – not both at once.
As long as the installation is secure, and the capsule base is installed in line with the manufacturer’s instructions, either method used is as safe as the other.
If you are booking for your newborn, the most common timeframe to book a capsule and base for is 6 months.
Babies will outgrow a capsule and base at differing ages. Capsules and bases (and all car seats) have maximum limits. Once a child reaches these limits, they have outgrown the car seat. As each baby grows at a different rate, each baby will reach the limit of a capsule and base at a different age.
It is uncommon for a child to outgrow a capsule before 6 months of age. A small child may still fit their capsule at 12 months or older. Therefore, it is very likely you will be able to use a capsule and base at least until 6 months old.
As long as we have capsules and bases available, you can extend your hire.
Your child will transition from a capsule and base into one of two types of car seats:
A convertible car seat: This is called convertible as it “converts” from rear- to forward-facing. Your baby will start off using this seat rear-facing and, ideally once they have reached the rear-facing limits of the car seat, they will then convert to forward-facing.
A rear-facing car seat: Some seats on the market are dedicated rear-facing seats. These seats may allow you to keep your child rear-facing beyond toddler age and into early school years.
All infant capsules and bases must be installed rear-facing as per their instruction manuals.
A baby’s head is largely unsupported and vulnerable to sustaining injuries in a forward-facing car seat. A rear-facing car seat will absorb most of the crash forces and spread these across a wide area of the baby’s body. The baby’s head, neck and spine are fully supported.
